MATURING INTO CHILDHOOD | The Word Exposed with Cardinal Tagle (January 18, 2026) with Sign Language Today, the Catholic Church in the Philippines and Filipino communities all over the world are celebrating the Feast of Santo Niño, the Child Jesus. This Sunday, we will read and reflect on the special liturgical texts, which Pope Innocent XIII approved for the celebration. In the first reading, the Prophet Isaiah proclaims a light that will shine in a time of darkness, and that light is the Child born to us, the Son given to us on whose shoulder dominion rests. This Child Jesus, according to the second reading, Saint Paul tells us that God blessed us in Jesus with every spiritual blessing, especially in being adopted children of God. And this great Child, Jesus, whose reign is of peace and justice, teaches us that the greatest in God’s Kingdom are those who can humble themselves like children, like him. How do we see ourselves before God, brothers and sisters? God humbled himself in the Child Jesus. God’s kingdom is for those who grow by remaining childlike. Viva Señor Santo Niño! Pit Señor!
