These photographs trace a historical heritage from the Delhi Sultanate, through the Mughal Empire’s forts and marble monuments, to Jaipur’s Rajput–Mughal palace architecture. Together, they show how Indian, Persian, and Islamic ideas blended over centuries. Delhi Sultanate and Lodi Period 1. Qutb Minar (Delhi): 1199–1220, by Qutb ud-Din Aibak, showing beautiful Indo-Islamic designs. 2. Tughlaqabad Fort (Delhi): 1321, by Ghiyasuddin Tughluq, massive sloping walls and bastion 3. Lodi Garden (Delhi): 15th–16th-century tombs surrounded by peaceful gardens. Early Mughal (c. 1526–1605) 4. Purana Qila (Delhi): 1538, by Humayun, completed by Sher Shah Suri, marking the shift to Mughal architecture. 5. Humayun's Tomb (Delhi): 1558, by Empress Bega Begum, the first grand Mughal tomb. 6. Fatehpur Sikri (Uttar Pradesh): 1571–1585, Akbar’s capital, blending Indian, Persian, and Islamic styles. 7. Agra Fort (Agra): 1573, by Akbar, known for its strong and elegant design. 8. Amber Fort (Jaipur): 1592, by Man Singh I, mixing Rajput and Mughal designs. High Mughal (c. 1605–1707) 9. Tomb of I'timād-ud-Daulah (Agra): 1622–1628, by Nur Jahan, known as the "Baby Taj." 10. Taj Mahal (Agra): 1631–1653, by Shah Jahan, a symbol of love and beauty. 11. Red Fort (Delhi): 1638–1648, by Shah Jahan, showing Mughal imperial power. 12. Jama Masjid (Delhi): 1644–1656, by Shah Jahan, one of the largest mosques in India. Late Mughal (c. 1707–1857) 13. City Palace (Jaipur): 1729–1732, by Jai Singh II, a blend of Rajput and Mughal design. 14. Tomb of Safdar Jang (Delhi): 1754, by Safdar Jang, one of the last major garden-tombs in Delhi 15. Hawa Mahal (Jaipur): 1799, by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh, famous for its intricate windows and ventilation. These landmarks tell the stories of India's rich history and its mix of cultures and art.
