Here is a quick vid showing a 3 pin mini XLR being fitted to a pair of Beyerdynamic DT770 to give them a detachable cable. If you are a dab hand with a dremel and a soldering iron this is pretty straight forward. I used a burr tool to widen the hole just enough to fit the mini XLR socket . Make sure when you widen the hole you widen it towards the rear of the earcup so the socket does not obstruct the driver when you put them back together The socket I used was a neurtik RT3MP you can pick them up here http://www.audiospares.com/product.ph... The cable was a braided litz copper cable we made especially for them - if you want us to make you one they would be around £60 which shounds a lot but you normally see cables of similar construction going for north of £100. However it is possibly over kill on a pair of £120 headphones - you can make your own / mod the original cable by soldering a miniXLR plug on the end of it In case you are interested - the silver bits on the driver are lead weights to mass load it and the silver circle inside the cup is some vibration damping material. Both part of our mass loading and damping kit for the DT770 range available here http://customcans.co.uk/s/s/index.php...
