Interdependence, Independence & Dependence | Definition & Explanation | Ep 5/13

Today, we shall discuss interdependence. In simple words, interdependence is the mutual dependence of individuals, groups, organizations or even nations. Interdependence is the very principle of nature. It synergizes the potential of individuals on personal, organizational or even international levels. I shall cite many examples for you to explain this phenomenon of interdependence later in this animated video. But, firstly let us see the bigger picture which will, in turn, make the significance and supremacy of interdependence even more clear. Dependence, independence, and interdependence! Do these words sound familiar? Oh Yes! Let us first dive into the meaning of dependence and independence before discussing Interdependence in depth. Stephen Covey in his book “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People” beautifully describes Dependence as a paradigm of “YOU”. You should take care of me. You should do this. You should do that. You are responsible for all this. I am dependent on YOU. Contrarily, independence is the paradigm of “I”. I am self-sufficient. I can do this all alone. I am capable to do this single-handedly. I am self-reliant and I am responsible. And finally, I am independent. Now, INTER-DEPENDENCE!
