Many expats may think that Hong Kong is a high living cost city, having been given the title of ‘most expensive housing in the world.’ Furthermore, foreigners may think language is a barrier for those who do not speak Mandarin and Cantonese, making it hard to find a desirable job in the city. Is this really the case? We invited married couple Rahul Sharma (class of 2017) and Manasy Vidyasaga (class of 2015), both of whom are HKU MBA alumni, to share their MBA experience and their views on the above matters. Coming from India and having lived in Hong Kong for several years so far, both Rahul and Manasy think that Hong Kong does have a high living cost. However, they commented that the tax rate in Hong Kong is much lower when compared to other developed cities. When speaking of the language barrier you face of working in Hong Kong, it may not be the deciding factor as it merely depends on the skill set required by the job itself. Now, let’s go and hear more of their journey as an HKU MBA couple!
