The soldiers that rode him was shot and killed, which meant Celtic was sent to a farm and was waiting to be bought. Ruby's mother bought her him and at first, he was timid. He always thought that the reason Isabel died was because of him, he didn't want to hurt another rider. Throughout the movie, Ruby and Celtic grow a strong bond. They both have an unbreakable trust.
