A tour of LOXTON, South Africa - Strange Karoo Village

Hi everyone! In this video, I explore the fascinating, unique and unusual village of Loxton. It is situated in the Great Karoo region of South Africa, in the Northern Cape. It is c. 600km from Cape Town and more than 900km away from Johannesburg, and can be considered a remote location. This was my second visit to Loxton. I previously visited this part of the world when at school during a chess tournament, which was held here. I remember the beautiful trees, wide unpaved streets, the sounds of nature and the miniature stop signs. Join me on a tour through this intriguing village - among other things, we will explore some of the residential areas where we notice the unusual location of the telephone poles in the street, the miniature traffic signs and the breathtaking trees scattered across the village. We also stumble across the Loxton Police Station and explore the Pear Tree Campsite, the Dutch Reformed Church as well as the central business district. Well, by that I mean the Loxton Cooperative and Loxton Lekker. I also walk past an old creche school (which I subsequently learned is now a private building) and a restored hand pump to assist with the water supply of the village. The sportsfields also have some unique characteristics - but no spoilers here!
