The A/C on my 03 Durango had begun to not cool very well when sitting in traffic and at low speeds, especially on hotter days. After cruising through the forums, I identified that my stock electric fan was dead. The stock replacement was $300. The Dodge Forum had many topics similar to my situation and the go to move was to remove the clutch fan and install an aftermarket fan such as the Ford Taurus Fan. I opted to do the same, as I had noticed my clutch fan was acting odd, coming on at weird times, etc. The reason I decided to do this video is because I had such a hard time removing the clutch fan. There were youtube videos out there that described the process, but most of them did not actually show it, specifically getting the clutch pulley to not spin while trying to break the nut loose. You can skip to the end of the video to see the parts required for this job. 1/9/14 Update. I was asked for an update. If I were to do this over, I would probably opt to just replace the stock fan with an OEM. The first fan I used lasted about a year and then burnt up. I haven't noticed any big impact to HP or MPG. Another user who did the same job also had a 1st fan fail. This is not a job you want to have to do more than once, and having to do it twice, my out of pocket is getting close to what it would have been to buy the replacement oem fan from the dealer.
