WithHer Fund: Meet Argentina’s Grassroots Initiative for Deaf Survivors of Gender-Based Violence

Based in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Sordas sin Violencia (“Deaf Women Without Violence”) provides accessible information and support in their native sign language to Deaf women and their children who are experiencing violence and discrimination. The program helps them gain a better understanding of their human rights — and their right to access social services like the police, healthcare, and the justice system. Sordas sin Violencia is one of six grassroots initiatives supported by the WithHer Fund, a partnership between the United Nations’ Spotlight Initiative and the United Nations Foundation that provides direct support to local NGOs working to end violence against women and girls.
