In Empuraan, Murali Gopy’s writing is dedicated to USING this celebrityhood to tell a story that NEEDS this sort of celebrityhood, to be protected. SUBSCRIBE - https://bit.ly/35NEDO7 L2: Empuraan Review by Sucharita Tyagi - Empuraan falls VERY squarely in the stereotype of the the massive movie star film. Mohanlal is everyone’s saviour, and with his guns and men, destroys whoever comes in the way, thanks to his ability to be able to do EVERYTHING. About a million slow motion shots establish beyond any doubt, anyone who is on Khureshi’s side, will be protected. You KNOW the template, you’ve seen it, one can even accurately predict when Prithviraj is about to show up, and how that scene will turn out. However, in Empuraan, Murali Gopy’s writing is dedicated to USING this celebrityhood to tell a story that NEEDS this sort of celebrityhood, to be protected. Bookending the film are sequences where a muslim man comes face to face with Hindu groups baying for his blood. But from the first scene to the last one, the film takes many a political turn, staunchly re-affirming its stance that power hungry people, who exist all over the country, are solely to be held responsible to creating animosity between people. These can be found in the political building in Kerala, and the in terrorist outfits in Pakistan, prepared to pounce upon the vulnerable, using them for personal gain. Like Atlee’s Jawan, and maybe I'm being sentimental here for no reason, Empuraan also seems to be CONCERNED with the issues it addresses through its flashyness. L2: Empuraan (transl.
