👉 Hey! SUBSCRIBE for Race Content 👉 / @mi-xc The real race and action starts at about 30 miles in around 1:28:00. The beginning 11 miles or so saw a few surges but the group stayed together. Then from about mile 14 - 26 was the recovery zone, lol. Nobody wanted to pull or breakaway into the headwind on the pavement, so everyone just took a mid race 30+ minute breather. Once we made the turn back onto gravel, the gps route had us going directly into the woods without not even a hint of a trail. So I zoomed out on my head unit and directed the group to take about a mile or so detour that led us on course. From here on out it was mostly rought ORV and forrest trails and guys new this was the spot to push the pace. It was loose with plenty of pot holes, rocks and ruts, so I just tried to stay near the front and out of trouble. Which was kind of my plan for the whole day as I've never seen this course and was riding blind. From about mile 30-36 it full gas and the selection point of the race. It got thinned down to just the 6 of us. My descending skills kept me in the race, but my fitness couldn't hold up it's part of the deal. I finally popped when the guy ahead of me lost the wheel at mile 36. A few miles later we passed 4th place as he was stopped with a mechanical. He eventually caught back up and we nearly chased down the front 3. Unfortunately as we were about to attach they surged ahead never to be seen again. I kept loosing 4th place's wheel, but eventually caught back up to him with about 5 miles and 15 minutes remaining. It was all I had to hold his wheel but I did just barely. Going into the finish he lost the rear end twice in the last corners which gave me an opportunity to beat him in the sprint. Happy with my effort. Not quite back to full health and I've lost a lot of fitness, but this was a good sign and headed in the right direction. 👉 Hey! SUBSCRIBE for Race Content 👉 / @mi-xc
