Welcome to another adventurous episode of Tips & Tricks! Today we're talking about increases in knitting. There are many ways to add stitches as you work, such as kfb (knit into the front and the back of the stitch), backwards loop cast on, and more: this video focuses on the sister stitches of M1R and M1L. These abbreviations are "code" for make one right (M1R) and make one left (M1L). The names refer to the direction the new stitch seem to appear from- sprouting from the right side of a stitch or the left side, leaning further in that direction. When used together, they can form a balanced look to the gusset of a thumb on a glove, or help shape the yoke of a sweater. I call them sister stitches because they are created in almost identical ways, with the same strand found between stitches, just interacting with that strand in different directions. This video will walk you through that :) Key phrases introduced in this video: "Right means Rear" (M1R you pick up the strand from behind, or the rear) Always knit the strand you pick up the "hardest way possible" to minimize holes in your work. Please let me know what you think of the video, if you have questions, and what else you might like to see a video about! Consider subscribing to my channel and sharing this video with others! I also offer Zoom lessons for extra one-on-one help, $15 a session (usually we limit these to 2 hours), or consider the more formal classes for instruction and projects at $25. Current lessons rates can be found here, and you can prepay on the site, later we can coordinate our schedules! https://sun-dragon-art-fiber.shopligh...
