Whisper of past: 24:32 The composition 7 Pictures of Universe was created between 2025 and 2026 and is conceived as a cyclical work for symphonic orchestra with solo voice, synthesizer, and solo viola. The piece consists of seven independent movements—musical pictures—that depict scenes from nature, the universe, and the inner world of the human being. Each movement represents a distinct atmosphere, while the entire cycle is dramaturgically connected by a unifying idea. The impulse for the creation of the composition was not only the preparation of a graduation concert, but above all an interest in film and programmatic music. The aim was to create a work whose character could also function in the context of a film image, even though it was conceived as an independent concert piece. Thematically, the composition focuses on human life and its relationship to nature, time, the universe, and memories. The cycle 7 Pictures of Universe is built as a sequence of seven musical images, each capturing a specific scene or idea. The individual movements are conceived so that the listener can create their own visual and emotional imagery through the music. The first image, The Living World, presents a view of living nature, its diversity and beauty. The music evokes the world of plants, animals, and forests, while the gradual introduction of instruments symbolizes the development and flourishing of life. Conceptually, it serves as the introduction to the entire cycle, drawing the listener into the atmosphere of the work. The second image, Beneath the Waves, focuses on the ocean and its depths. The music works with the image of gradually approaching the sea, followed by a descent beneath the surface and the discovery of the underwater world. An important role is played by timbral color and recurring thematic fragments, which create a melancholic and mysterious atmosphere. Sound effects and rustling textures evoke the physical sensation of being underwater. The third image, The Majesty of Mountains, depicts the grandeur of mountains, their monumentality and calm. Musical stasis and gradual intensification express the image of mountains shrouded in mist and their gradual revelation. The music has a contemplative character and works with a sense of space and height. The fourth image, The Sky Above, focuses on the view of the sky, clouds, and flying birds. The music captures movement, lightness, and joy, representing the peak of the optimistic and luminous part of the cycle. This image acts as a contrast to the darker and more introspective sections of the work. The fifth image, The Lights of Orion, thematically concentrates on the universe and the night sky. The music evokes the infinity and mystery of space through static textures, overlapping tones, and glissandi. A significant expressive element is the solo voice, which deepens the emotional dimension of this movement and strengthens its atmospheric character. The sixth image, The Flow of Time, depicts the passage of time and its transience. The music works with a regular rhythmic pulse that symbolizes the relentless continuation of time. The atmosphere of this movement draws on film music and its ability to express abstract concepts through simple, repetitive musical means. The final image, Whisper of Past, is a remembrance of the past and of people who are no longer present. It is the most emotionally intense part of the cycle and contains fragments of themes from the preceding images. In this way, the entire cycle is brought to a close and returns to the previously experienced musical scenes. The music is intended to evoke emotion and personal reflection in the listener. The composer’s intention was to create a work that would not only engage the listener musically, but also evoke a strong emotional response. The music should allow the listener to imagine a concrete image or emotion and to find their own personal meaning within it. The work is conceived both as a concert and a graduation piece, with an emphasis on emotional and expressive depth. During the creation of 7 Pictures of Universe, inspiration from film music played a significant role, especially the work of Hans Zimmer.
