Bush from 2000 to 2007 and as deputy chief of staff from 2004 to 2007. At the White House, he oversaw the offices of Strategic Initiatives, Political Affairs, Public Liaison, and Intergovernmental Affairs and served as deputy chief of staff for policy, coordinating the White House policymaking process. Before his work on President Bush’s 2000 and 2004 campaigns, Rove was president of Karl Rove + Company, an Austin-based public affairs firm that worked with more than 75 Republican candidates for the U.S. Senate, governor, and Congress, as well as with nonpartisan causes and nonprofit organizations. Rove writes a weekly op-ed for ”The Wall Street Journal” and is a “Fox News” contributor. He is the author of two books: “The Triumph of William McKinley” (Simon & Schuster, 2015), on the 1896 presidential election, and “Courage and Consequence” (Threshold Editions, 2010).
