We first started bale grazing 3 years ago. The results were so significant that we've done it every year since. You're going to have to feed your animals, so you may as well do it in a manner that reduces the total amount of work you'll have to do on your farm. I'm going to show you 3 different methods of bale grazing that are particularly suited for a homestead or smaller farm. Bale grazing will improve your soil, either in targeted locations, or broadly across a large area. I'll show you both methods. I mentioned the thick mat of milo hay that turned anaerobic on me. This year, I'm going to try spreading biologically charged compost from my Johnson-Su bioreactor into the thick areas of hay and see if I can get them to decompose faster.
