UK Man Jailed For Casteist Slurs In Social Media Post

Recently, Amrik Singh Bajwa, was arrested in the UK for posting casteist slurs on social media, making it the first time someone was convicted for caste-based discrimination in Britain. After an investigation, the Thames Valley Police accused Amrik of violating Sections 127(1)(a) and (3) of the UK’s Communications Act of 2003 for sending offensive and obscene messages online. The allegations stem from a Tiktok video that Amrik posted in July 2022. In the clip, he hurled slurs, sexual abuse, obscenities, and even threats of rape against the Dalit Sikh community and the Chamaar and Choohra Dalit communities. He also praised the upper caste Hindu community, Jat, for sexually abusing Dalit women in India as a source of pride.
