Hasanpaşa Gazhanesi, which started to serve as the second gas station on the Anatolian side and the last gas station in Istanbul in 1892, met the lighting and fuel needs of the city for exactly 101 years. Over time, its technology became obsolete, and its activity was thought to be harmful to the environment and human health. Production was discontinued in 1993, along with the city's other gas stations. The historical building, which is one of the most important industrial heritages of Turkey with its 130-year history, was abandoned after being used as an IETT garage for a while, but after years of public struggle, it was saved and taken into a comprehensive restoration process. Museum Gazhane, which was brought to Istanbul with a culture-art-oriented "living space" concept in the new period, opened its doors to Istanbulites on July 9, 2021.
