Make Your Own Painting Boards - Save Money

I am often asked about what I use to support my watercolor paper as I paint. I use pieces of hardboard, cut to my preferred custom sizes. In this video, I share my reasons for making DIY painting boards and I share my cutting diagram for cutting a 4'x8' sheet of hardboard into the right sizes for painting. #paintingboard #diy #makeyourown You can purchase drawing and painting boards from your local art store and online. But a single large painting board can cost up to $27 US. Instead of spending that kind of money for a board, I visited my local home improvement store and purchased a 4'x8' sheet of hardboard and cut it down to size. I was able to make 14 custom boards from one 4'x8' sheet. I also suggest that you have the hardware store cut it down to size for you to make it easier and safer. I provide a cutting diagram showing how I optimize the board to create 14 smaller boards, that are just the right size for my standard watercolor sheets of paper.
