First Class Luxury on Japan's New Yakumo Limited Express, Matsue to Okayama

This is no ordinary Limited Express train. The Yakumo Limited Express that we took from Matsue in the San's region to Okayama in the Sanyo region in Japan was totally redesigned in 2024. Our trip was about one year after its introduction. We decided to try Green Class or as the Japan Rail literature likes to call it, first class. The designer, Yasuyuku Kawanishi, took his design inspiration from the name of the train, Yakumo which means "springing clouds" and you'll see this layout in the train's logo and repeated as a design motif in side the train, especially semi-compartment seating area. Our Green (or first class) car was quite handsome with wide, comfortable seats finished i with a lovely orange-ish fabric. We thought the extra expense for our green car seats was well worth it, but take a look at our video and judge for yourself. As a bonus, we will show you why the destination, Okayama is so worthwhile. We'll take you on a tour of the peaceful Korakuen garden, dating back to the 16th Century and one of Japan's finest gardens.
