The Egyptian 951 Helwan is a surplus pistol with a pretty interesting history. This handgun, sometimes referred to as the Brigadier, is a Cold War Era licensed copy of the Italian Beretta Modello 1951 (M1951). The 9x19mm chambered Helwan was produced by Al Maadi and became the standard issue Egyptian Military sidearm in the latter half of the 1950's. Egyptian 951 pistols produced for Military service are well regarded in terms of quality, although they aren't as finely finished as their Italian counterparts. There are some serious issues when it comes to Helwans produced specifically for the commercial market. Unfortunately non-military Helwan pistols have always been rumored to suffer from poor steel quality, leading to parts breakage. Keep that in mind if you are looking to add one of these nice shooting pistols to your milsurp collection. Thanks for Watching!
