Venice, Ravenna, Ancona, Split, Bari, the ancient Ragusa (now Dubrovnik) are cities rich of history and culture, with cathedrals built with white stone by the sea. In old navigation charts, the Adriatic Sea was often indicated as the natural continuation of the Grand Canal, as if that water held in itself the sense of a big community, made of welcoming people, who grew up eating the same food, trained all along to build beautiful things with simple gestures. Dedicating a new orchestra to the ancient name of our sea, is like preparing the launch of a new boat in a dockyard -- the crew being the musicians who want to join it, with their long stories to tell. Le Canal Grande est le canal principal de Venise et il trace la voie vers l'Adriatique: la mer des Picéniens, des Romains et des Vénitiens. Venise, Ravenne, Ancône, Split, Bari, l'ancienne Raguse aujourd'hui Dubrovnik, Corfou, sont toutes des villes riches en histoire et en culture, avec leurs cathédrales en pierre blanche, bâties près de la mer. Sur les anciennes cartes marines, la mer Adriatique était souvent indiquée comme la naturelle continuation du Grand Canal, comme si cette eau-là contenait en elle-même le sens d'une grande communauté, faite par des gens accueillants, grandis en se nourrissant avec saveurs communes, entrainés depuis toujours à construire des belles choses avec des gestes simples. Consacrer une nouvelle orchestre à l'ancien nom de notre mer, c'est comme préparer dans le chantier le lancement d'un bateau -- pour équipage les musiciens qui en voudront faire partie, avec leur longue histoire à raconter. Nelle antiche carte di navigazione, il mare dell'Adriatico era spesso indicato come la naturale continuazione del Canal Grande, come se quell'acqua contenesse in sé il senso di una grande comunità, fatta di gente accogliente, cresciuta nutrendosi degli stessi cibi, allenata da sempre a costruire cose belle con gesti semplici. Dedicare una nuova orchestra all'antico nome del nostro mare, è come preparare in cantiere il varo di una nave - per equipaggio i musicisti che ne vorranno far parte, con la loro lunga storia da raccontare.
