CleanMed Europe 2020 - How clinicians can reduce the environmental impact of healthcare

This session led by two physicians outlines the benefits of engaging and empowering physicians and other clinicians to advocate for climate-smart and environmentally-responsible healthcare. Participants learn about the development of the Health Care Without Harm US Physician Network, and how members are supported through educational webinars, newsletters, fact-sheets, mentorship, virtual journal club and grand round series, and connecting activities. Speakers also share their experience supporting the next generation of physician leaders, including the creation of the annual Emerging Physician Leader Award and Scholarship and formation of two new groups, Medical Students for a Sustainable Future (MS4SF), and Physicians-in-training for a Sustainable Future PT4SF). On the local front, the speakers share the ups and downs of creating and growing hospital and health system level environmental stewardship groups. The session also mark the launch of the Doctors for Greener Healthcare network, a brand new initiative from HCWH Europe that will serve as a platform for clinicians to collaborate and a powerful vehicle through which we achieve widespread transformation in the healthcare sector. https://cleanmedeurope.org/
