Performance Artist: Hsiao-Chu (Julia) Hsia Collaborative DJ: Kiloé Videographer: Chen-Yi Wu Location: Governors Island, New York, NY, USA Date: Aug 16 2025 “Wear Enough” is a theme-based project focusing on environmental issues caused by fast fashion and overconsumption, inviting people to rethink shopping habits. The project incorporates an on-site installation and interactive performance. Visitors are welcome to try on wearable artifacts made with paper and receipts. The “fake” clothing store and the fashion show create a scenario with objects that are close to people’s daily lives to approach the conversations, forming an immersive experience for people to "bid for" their wants. Through movement improvisation and interactive sections in the performance, breaking boundaries between the artist and audience, the artist aims to invite people to gather, rethink, and discuss consumer behaviors collectively. / The project is designed to be presented as a solo show on Governors Island, partnering with the Taiwanese American Arts Council, one of the organizations in residence, to respond to the program topic “Eco Art on Island” with open spaces to talk. Receipts as main materials and plastic bags are donations from friends and the public, with other items as partial support from the Materials for the Arts.
