Driving on one of the most breathtaking mountain roads in Hubei Province in the most beautiful forest area in China - Shennongjia Highway G213 from Fang County to Xingshan County. Shennongjia Forestry District, directly under the jurisdiction of Hubei Province, is the only administrative district in China named after a forest. Located in the northwest of Hubei Province, it is adjacent to Wushan County and Wuxi County of Chongqing City in the west, Zhushan County and Fang County in the north, Baokang County in the east, and Xingshan County and Badong County in the south, with a total area of 3,253 square kilometers. In 2022, the permanent population of Shennongjia Forestry District is 62,900, and the registered population is 77,500. As of June 2023, it has 6 towns and 2 townships under its jurisdiction. On May 28, 1970, Shennongjia Forest District was established. It was named after the historical legend that the ancestor of the Chinese nation, Emperor Yan Shennong, built a ladder with wood here, collected hundreds of herbs, saved the people from the disaster, and taught them how to grow crops. Since the establishment of Shennongjia in 1970, more than 20 people have claimed to have seen the "wild man" at different times and places. Although the mystery of the "wild man" has not been solved, this legend has added a lot of mystery to Shennongjia. Shennongjia, together with Wudang Mountain, the Three Gorges of the Yangtze River and other scenic spots, constitute the "Shenwu Gorge" international golden tourism route, attracting a large number of tourists to explore its mysterious natural and cultural landscapes. Sonid Zuoqi-Beihai Highway, referred to as "Subei Road", is a national highway numbered G209 in China. It starts from Sonid Zuoqi, Inner Mongolia, and ends at Beihai, Guangxi, with a total length of 3,435 kilometers.
