Carnival parade of local groups organised by a small village in very rural Bavarian Swabian "Allgäu". A great job, especially by the local youth. Very poor video, uncut, "straight out the camera" which was a normal still camera held at arms length above the 5 rows of people in front of me and with a smudge on the left of the lens. Sorry about that but for some maybe a few bits to bring back a smile of a great afternoon. Well done all the participants. Many of the 38 floats take the opportunity to make a light-hearted commentary to local or national political or environmental topics. The opening band is a group from Herisau in Switzerland who headed up the procession as guests. Almost all the film was taken in the neighbouring village of Markt Rettenbach, the parish HQ. I have never been in the shop "Fischbach" (Fish Stream) featured in the background - it's actually a butchers - but I can't recommend more highly their other shop in nearby Ottobeuren, the best ever, friendliest, cleanest shop of any kind you will find from Rio to Cologne. Event was 100% Zika and Zicken free. Felt sorry for the two policeman who hid in their car for fear of having lipstick all over their faces. Oh and as always, well done the local voluntary fire brigades from the surrounding villages, who did such a friendly and efficient job of managing the traffic and the many voluntary first aid people, who sadly were called out exactly as the procession ended to a nearby, unconnected, car accident , luckily with no fatal injuries but requiring two ambulance helicopters. Schee war's! My camera battery died at the third last float which meant I didn't get my own villages float!.
