Well the deal was made and the 1979 AMC AMX was picked up and brought to the shop, in need of essentially an entire rebuild in a very short amount of time! The fact that only half an engine was left under the hood is just the start there are a LOT of little, AND large, issues to resolve with this thing! As a very unique care the 1979 AMC Spirit AMX is an interesting beast, with fewer than 4,000 ever produced and likely only hundreds of 304 4 speed cars left in existence initially we were terrified of parts availability. However, as we start inspecting the car we notice there are a LOT of parts from other manufacturers, not just stuff AMC engineered... and better yet they are cheap and available! So we begin our inspection from nose to tail, or Bumper to Bumper as it were of this future road trip machine! Road trip? Oh yeah, we're planning on road tripping this thing in July! The 2020 25002500RoadTrip is set for July 23rd-28th from Columbus Ohio to Key West Florida... AND BACK! What kind of project car have we gotten ourselves into!?
