Experiencing a MAX LOSS in Options Trading Experiencing a max loss can be painful but it doesn't have to be if you know what your risks are and positions size accordingly. In this video, I ended up with a max loss on my broken wing butterfly as the market dropped below my strikes rendering all of my call options worthless. The good thing about positions sizing for max loss is that it allows you to stay in a trade longer to let the probabilities play out. Now this trade didn't work out for me and I took the max loss but I know overtime this strategy makes money so I'm ok with the max loss as I know the expectancy of this strategy is positive if I let the math play out.
