The purpose of RA 11711, which further amends the Contractors’ License Law (R.A. 4566) is to ensure – for the safety of the public – that only qualified and reliable contractors are allowed to undertake construction in the country. The law also aims to promote for the benefit of the public and private sectors and for the national interest, the orderly growth of the contracting sector and the upgrading of construction capability. Recently, the Philippine Contractors Accreditation Board launched the online application for “Pakyaw Licenses.” This will allow younger aspiring contractors, engineers, architects, and entrepreneurs to legitimize their small-scale operations. On this Special Edition of the PCA Talks, the Philippine Constructors Association, partnered up with the Philippine Contractors Accreditation Board, to present the Pakyaw License benefits, processes, and qualifications. It is the goal of this edition to know more about the Pakyaw License, and how this will benefit the industry as part of transforming the future of construction.
