The doctor was beaten up by a patient's family members who was brought to the hospital for treatment and succumbed to COVID. The incident took place at Udali Covid Care Center in Assam's Hojai district. Dr Seuj Kumar Senapati who was assaulted, was immediately shifted to Nagaon Civil Hospital for further treatment. Around 2 pm, the patients attendants came complaining that the patient had not urinated since morning and so i went with a pair of gloves and a catheter to him. When I reached the bedside, the patient had already expired. After this the patient attendants started ravaging the hospital property, broke benches and glasses. They chased the doctors and we tried to hide wherever we could. They found me and pulled me out and beat me mercilessly with steel utensils, sticks and hands and feet. They pulled in the ward and then outside. When I came out, I saw the rooms of other doctors and nurse station destroyed. Finally I somehow managed to elope".
