It is managed by the municipal company Barcelona de Serveis Municipals (BSM) commissioned by the Barcelona City Council. It was built under the design of the architects Oriol Bohigas , Josep Martorell , David Mackay and Albert Puigdomènech and under the direction of the engineer Joan Ramon de Clascà in 1991 to provide the city with a marina at its height, following the regulations of the Generalitat to reconvert the north coast of the city in a residential and recreational area. In 1992 it was the venue for the sailing competitions of the XXV Olympic Games . Currently, apart from being a renowned marina on the Mediterranean coast , it has become a tourist and leisure center in the Catalan capital.
