Some time round 2006 we put on a rave in South London with Digital Mystikz... At this point they'd only just started dropping their own tunes and it was a great time to watch them DJ - there weren't really enough records being made then that fit the sound they wanted to play, so Mala was running these amazing b-side dubs of Greensleeves 12"s from the 80s, pitching them up or down and drawing out the basslines - it made it clear how much the sound evolved from reggae culture, something that ended up being lost as Dubstep blew up worldwide.
