This video compares the same clip recorded two ways on the DJI Mic 3: Bluetooth straight into the DJI Action 6 versus the Mic 3’s internal 32-bit float backup. The difference is not subtle. I recorded the exact same ride using the DJI Mic 3 in two modes. One version was recorded via Bluetooth directly into the DJI Action 6, using all the recommended settings. The other used the Mic 3’s internal 32-bit float backup recording. The Bluetooth audio recorded into the Action 6 was, for me, effectively unusable — harsh, distorted, and very difficult to rescue in post. In contrast, the 32-bit float backup from the Mic 3, using the same mic placement and conditions, was far more usable once lightly processed in post, if not perfect. This isn’t a lab test or a theoretical discussion. It’s the same clip, same helmet, same ride, and the only variable is how the audio was recorded. At this point I’m trying to understand whether this is a limitation of Bluetooth audio into the Action 6, a settings issue, firmware behaviour, or something specific to my setup. If you’re successfully using the DJI Mic 3 on a motorcycle, I’d really appreciate your input. Please share your setup in the comments ....especially whether you record via Bluetooth or rely on the 32-bit float backup, your gain and wind reduction settings, helmet placement, etc. It would be genuinely helpful for me and others trying to get reliable audio from this system. If you’re considering upgrading from the DJI Mic 2, this comparison may be worth seeing before you do.
