A Makadara court has ordered the detention of a senior officer attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) for 14 days as police continue investigating the suspected murder of his lover in Kasarani. The officer, Daniel Mburu Macharia, who works in the DCI Anti-Narcotics Unit, is linked to the death of 43-year-old Florence Nyagah whose body was discovered on March 1, 2026 inside their house at By-Faith Flats along Lumumba Drive in Roysambu. Investigators told the court that Nyagah was found lying in a pool of blood in the living room with visible injuries, raising suspicion of a violent attack. Police say Macharia was the last person seen with the deceased and that the couple had reportedly quarreled days before her death during a WhatsApp video call between Nyagah and her daughter. Crime scene officers recovered a blood-stained knife hidden in the kitchen, believed to be a possible murder weapon. Detectives also informed the court that the suspect allegedly fled and switched off his phone before later surrendering at Naivasha Police Station after the case gained media attention. The court allowed police 14 days to complete investigations, including DNA analysis, CCTV review, and witness statements, before the matter is mentioned again on March 19, 2026.
