Episode 27: Hypergrowth Investment Rules | Value of Growth Lecture Series

I defined hypergrowth in my last video as a sustained annual growth rate greater than 15%. As I showed in that video, the key for a company obtaining high growth is for it to move from early adopters to mainstream customers (Early Majority) in a large and fast growing industry, which Geoff Moore lays out in his excellent book Crossing the Chasm (a book every growth investor should read). I present the primary rules for investing in hypergrowth in this video. I argue that the most important metric in hypergrowth is growth! I also explain that valuation is usually a secondary issue for most companies in hypergrowth, which is hard for many investors to believe. However, because growth is the most important metric driving stock performance, investors must sell their position the moment the growth rate decelerates, a challenge for most investors particularly when they have made a lot of money in the stock.
