Understanding the Move to Standardized Attendance Accounting and the Dangling Hour

Fresno City College will soon be moving to a new method of attendance accounting called Standardized Attendance Accounting. This will change how we report attendance to the State to receive apportionment. In this session we explore how attendance accounting works, how it is changing, and the impact this will have at our college. We specifically look at the issue of dangling contact hours. This section outlines the interaction between dangling hours, curriculum, and how we teach our classes. We discuss communication surrounding this issue, and highlight the roles of the Academic Senate, the Curriculum Committee, and discipline faculty as we adjust to the new accounting method.
