K'taka govt announces programme to curb C-sections, is it a solution to curb post-partum deaths?

The Karnataka government has announced that it will roll out a new programme starting next month aimed at reducing the number of caesarean births in the state. State health minister Dinesh Gundu Rao expressed concern over the surge in C-section deliveries particularly in private hospitals, and said that natural births were vital for the long-term health of both mother and child. This comes just about a month after 5 new mothers died in Ballari soon after C-sections. Initial probe has determined sub-standard IV solutions as the cause behind the deaths.
