Saint Publius the Ascetic of Syria — senator turned monk and monastic founder. Saint Mares the Singer in Syria — ascetic known for fasting, prayer, and song. Translation to Moscow of the Icon of the Mother of God “Assuage My Sorrow” — commemorating the miracle-working icon and its healing presence. Icon of the Mother of God “The Unexpected Joy” — celebrated for its grace-filled intercession. Saint Vladimir, Metropolitan of Kiev and Gallich — holy hierarch and New Martyr of the Russian Church. New Martyr Auxentius of Constantinople — steadfast in faith even unto death. Venerable Anatole I of Optina — Optina elder, ascetic, and spiritual father. Saint Dositheus of Tbilisi — commemorated among the saints of this day. Saint Gabriel, Bishop of Imereti — faithful shepherd of the Georgian Church.
