Initially, there wasn't an opener, whereas last time, Rob Leins opened for them in November of 2022. Although I filmed that set, I lost all the footage. So, hopefully this redeems that time. Anyway, there sure was a crowd, and the place was near to overflowing. Before they began, I went to the back room, where they were, standing around with Bill Satcher, one of their producers. Immediately, I thought it was Matt Shult, of CTE, considering the man's height, and especially his haircut. Alas, I was mistaken. I ran into Jake, their manager, and handed him my card. Jake, if you're watching this, the two digits that read "56" should be "45." I knew Justin would be there, so I caught up with him for a sec, and began to set up my equipment. The Josephines' two producers, Bill Satcher & Brandon, whose last name I can't recall, were also there. They opened with some classics, like Broadway & Coal Mine Gone, then jumped into Hilltop, with a story beforehand. I filmed Hilltop from Live on the Lot, as well as Cherokee Wind, way down my channel, if you want an earlier version. After these, they introduced a song about a Swamp Witch, “Bayou Baby,” which talks about someone dying in a swamp & making their peace with our world. They were doing fine, as they played Doin' Fine, then again, Cherokee Wind (One of my Favorites). I think it was at this point, a lady nearby me, began to whine about not wanting to wait 6 months for the new album to come out. You can see Bradley negotiate that straightforwardly, with a final, "I'm watching you all night" to which she classics it down to a "cheers", which somewhat resolves the environment she created. It was rather humorous. Let me just say, this time around with “Cherokee Wind” rates the highest, of all the times I’ve seen them play it. Although there was no percussion or necessarily even a bass, Bradley and Alex pulled this one out of their back pocket. I chose to use my 300mm lens in this one, to get that close up of guitar, being only two men on stage. Incredible. After they played the song, "Cocaine,"I had to resort to using the camera's audio mic. I had recorded each of the clips' audio separately on my phone, to keep it on the same levels. If you hear any muffling, or even my words at this point, that would be why. I will most likely put up a separate video with all of the audio I recorded, and just the audio, for background ambience if anyone would like that. To wrap all this up, I took B footage before the set, as it's hard to do so while they are playing to not miss anything. I cut out some language in the banter sections to keep this channel mostly appropriate for any viewers. You will hardly notice the difference anyway. It might sound like there is a penguin sometimes. Fireball was a fun one as they ensured to have their producers up there at that point, and really thanked everyone for pulling through on this one. Record and all. My card maxed out right as it was taking off, which explains the cut off part in-between clips. Not just of sound, but quality. The ending was lit, and I appreciate how quietly Alex handles everything on their shows. He rarely gets too loud, and is such a master at playing the instruments he handles. That outro he gave us was something only he might do. Known him since he played in Mahtulu, far back in high school. Kudos to the Josephines for their upcoming record. Obviously, but just for legal purposes, they own all this music, and even most of the equipment belongs to them. So copyright is in there.
