Final journey!! Northern Rail 150142 on the last ever passenger service between Rainford and Kirkby

Recorded date - 6/4/2023 Northern Rail 150142 British Rail Class 150 Sprinter Diesel Multiple Unit Service: 2K63 17:20 Blackburn - Kirkby via Manchester Victoria With the building of the new Headbolt Lane station pushing on at a decent pace alterations to the line between Kirkby and Headbolt Lane began which would see Kirkby no longer a terminus station for Merseyrail and Northern, as a result of this Northern Rail services would be starting and finishing at Rainford with a replacement bus running between Rainford and Kirkby until Headbolt Lane opens. On the last day of Northern running between the two stations I decided to record a couple of trains along the section of line, this is 150142 and with sister 150115 would be the two units to have the honour of being the last ever ones between Rainford and Kirkby before the line was closed. 142 is recorded departing Rainford and after receiving the token it puts on a good performance along the line before arriving into Kirkby station for the final time before the two trains would work back to Blackburn.
