The federal government of Canada wants to introduce Bill C-10 to regulate the internet. Though the government claims it would not touch freedom of expression, the recent committee moves have made all self-generated content potentially liable to CRTC review or licensing. This may sounds benign, but Michelle Stirling, Communications Manager for Friends of Science, discusses the present 'soft-censorship' and how the media landscape is funded by the feds...so how can there be impartial coverage? Oddest of all in this time of censorship, is that the ENGOS which have openly decried threats of censorship in the past, are largely silent.
