This message challenges us to confront one of life's most fundamental questions: who is really in control? Through the lens of Jeremiah's prophecy to exiled Israel, we're invited to examine where we place our trust when life becomes difficult. The sermon weaves together the story of Rachel's desperate plea for children with Israel's season of exile, revealing a pattern we all face—in moments of desperation, we often look to the wrong sources for answers. Rachel turned to her husband Jacob, demanding he give her sons, only to be redirected back to God as the true source. Similarly, Israel had turned to idols and their own understanding, leading to 70 years of exile. The message is clear: God is the author of our stories, not us. He is the healer, the restorer, and the source of all joy. When we face injustice, uncertainty, or overwhelming circumstances, our calling isn't to blame the 'referees' of life or seek solutions apart from God. Instead, we're called to take the game out of the ref's hands by living faithfully within God's design, trusting that He is writing a redemption story far greater than we could author ourselves. This isn't passive resignation—it's active faith that keeps our eyes fixed on the throne where the one true King still reigns.
