Composer: Toshihiko Horiyama Notes: Junkman's theme in the PET. This theme is based on the original Junk Man theme from Mega Man 7 for the SNES. The SNES has 8 channels, labeled DSP 1-8. On a quick listen to each of the original song's channels (using foobar2000 with the Game Emu Player plugin) I think square 2 in this song is based on DSP 1 and 7, square 1 and PCM is based on DSP 4, and wave is based on DSP 3 or 8. I labeled the channels in this video a little differently in this video because the grouping of the drum instruments is unusual in this song. Two channels have different types of noise in them, and the PCM drums are also split. Overall, this theme is slower and less energetic compared to the original Junk Man theme, and even sounds a little dissonant. What do you think of this deconstruction? Let me know in the comments.
