I have had the pleasure of doing an interview with director Simon West on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of The General's Daughter starring John Travolta, James Woods, Madeleine Stowe, James Cromwell, Leslie Stefanson. After directing many commercials as well as music videos, Simon West achieved his big breakthrough in Hollywood when he was offered to direct Con Air. Based on this film's success, his career as a filmmaker took off, which led to him directing The General's Daughter, The Expendables 2, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, When a Stranger Calls, The Mechanic, Stolen, Wild Card, Old Guy, and many more. Simon also executive produced Black Hawk Down. During our conversation, we spoke about how his collaboration with producer Jerry Bruckheimer came about, his preference to shoot in camera as opposed to using CGI, the anniversary of The General's Daughter, Carter Burwell's score, the importance of working with great producers such as Mace Neufeld & Jerry Bruckheimer, The Mechanic starring Jason Statham as well as The Expendables 2. Simon also shared some details about his most recent films such as Old Guys starring Christoph Waltz, and much more. I hope you enjoy our conversation.
