The Republic XF-84H Thunderscreech was an American experimental turboprop fighter-bomber built during the Cold War. Designed to combine jet speed with turboprop efficiency, it used a powerful Allison XT40 engine and a supersonic propeller whose blade tips exceeded Mach 1.18. The aircraft became infamous for extreme noise, violent vibration, and constant mechanical failures. Despite impressive theoretical performance, only two prototypes were built and just 12 flights were completed before cancellation in 1956.
