We didn’t expect Japan to feel like this. From Tokyo’s busy streets to quiet mountain roads, this Japan road trip became something slower, calmer, and more meaningful than we planned. This is our Japan road trip — told through 7 cities, long drives, quiet mornings, and moments that didn’t need explaining. We started in Tokyo, then rented a car and drove through Hakone, Takayama, Shirakawa-go, Nara, Kyoto, and ended in Osaka. Along the way, we stayed in a ryokan, soaked in onsen, walked through empty torii gates at Fushimi Inari, got chased by deer in Nara, and rediscovered Japan beyond the usual checklist.
