A Vista into the open air. The high places reveal an uncommon world and create a lasting image in our memory. How would I paint this? THE PROJECT In this project we will look more closely at the role of foreground mid ground and background. The role these play in composing the picture and technically how we can paint these in a spontaneous and fresh way. This is a really useful way to organize your image before you start painting and helps you to “See” the picture before you paint it. THE CHALLENGE When we stand in Nature - or when we use a photograph - we see the subject without any filters. Our eyes are able to see near and far with the same clarity. The same as the camera. The artist looks at the scene and makes determinations about the mid ground, foreground and background. This makes the painting process more natural and fun and gives you an approach which for todays subject is very helpful
