Arizona social media attorney Ruth Carter explains the federal CAN-SPAM Act. This law regulates advertising emails in the U.S. If you send email advertisements, you must use an accurate header, a truthful subject line, inform recipients that the message is an ad, give your physical address, and make it easy for someone to unsubscribe from your email list. If you violate this law, you could be reported to the Federal Trade Commission and face a $16,000 fine per email. If you want to report someone for violating the CAN-SPAM Act, forward the email in question to spam@ucs.gov. You can read more about the CAN-SPAM Act here: http://bit.ly/1zwpolR.
