🏹 May 27th, 1940. While the British Army retreated toward Dunkirk, one officer stood his ground with a six-foot longbow. Captain Jack Churchill made the last confirmed longbow kill in European warfare, then volunteered for the Commandos where he would storm Norwegian beaches playing bagpipes, capture 42 German soldiers with only a sword, escape from Sachsenhausen concentration camp, and walk 150 kilometers through enemy territory to freedom. This is the documented story of the British officer who fought World War II with medieval weapons and proved that courage could overcome modern firepower. 📚 Sources: 1.
