This song was in praise of both the Gurujanaa's. Gopaal ata (as he was fondly known as) created many such compositions which followed the grammar and structure of Börgeet very closely. They are practiced in various Xäträs and such spiritual spaces on auspicious occasions though they are not considered as Börgeet till date. Like our earlier efforts of brining to you these traditional songs, we have tried to document and present to you this ancient song in its traditional form without any modern improvisation or instruments. In our continuing endeavour to pay tribute to our cultural heritage we feature the ancient tradition of manuscript paintings that flourished in Assam under the patronage of Vaishnava saint Srimanta Xänkärdev (Sankaradeva). We are grateful to noted Manuscript painter and scholar Sri Mridu Moucham Bora for collaborating on this project, demonstrating the traditional methods used in this age old artform and creating an original manuscript painting as an offering to the Almighty through his art. We hope this will help revive interest in this forgotten practise and inspire viewers to know more about our past and celebrate our cultural treasures. We also dedicate this prayer and the manuscript painting to all those unknown sculptors, illustrators, artists lost in the sands of time; with the hope that this dying art form of Assam may get a new lease of life and we can preserve and present our glorious cultural heritage to the whole world.
