Poseidon clearly wasn't happy with the Valentine's Day offerings to the missus, so he battered us hard early in the morning with violent lightning storms and treacherous seas. Goes to show that not every trip is glamour all the time running, as we quite often had to hide the graphite rods inside the half cabin as we waited for the squalls to pass. One thing I do often find about the inclement weather is the GT seem to become super aggressive. If you can find those good pressure points or fusilier bait bust ups, you'll be in with a very good chance of a fantastic topwater eat. Poppers, stickbaits, unweighted pilchards, live baits ... they all work super well these days. As I told the lads from earlier that week though, this reef trip was experimental. With the recent discovery of big demersals sitting around multiple closely scattered isolated rocks approximately 45NM offshore, I wanted to learn more about which bite windows to target these species. The two in question for today: Low tide window from roughly 1pm to 3pm (low tide at 2.03pm) Evening window from roughly 6pm to 8pm We ended up only fishing the low tide window as unfortunately, so far offshore, the weather was not in our favour and nor were the sharks with multiple taxman visits on various spots within this area. Nonetheless, we managed to pull up some trophy sized fish, proving the low tide bite window was effective. ⬇️ Watch More Here: • Spearfishing Coral Trout & My First Tropic...
